Your on site property manager, will be delighted to arrange for a helicopter to pick you up at the airport or he'll happily send a car and chauffeur. If you decide you'd rather come in your own car, or pick up a hire car, that's fine too – we are here to make your vacation easy. When you arrive, you'll be shown the house and the pool, then be given time to settle in comfortably as drinks are being poured and dinner is being prepared. You will then be served by candlelight when you are ready to eat. We will ensure this holiday starts as it intends to go on - in delicious, spoiling indulgence! Your chef will be on hand with menu suggestions each day. He'll take your orders for breakfast, a light lunch and dinner, or he'll hand everything over to you if you have an urge to do the cooking in your shining, professional kitchen. This holiday is all about doing it your way! If you want a massage or a facial, or have an urge to gallop the hills, it will be arranged for you. You are a 15 minute drive from Orvieto, with its ornate cathedral, and 50 minutes drive from ancient Perugia, Umbria's capital city. The estate covers 140 beautiful acres that you can explore at your leisure. It's an oasis for wildlife and wild flowers: porcupines and hares are common sights. The special microclimate means the house is never too hot and never too cold - though naturally there's a huge open fireplace, central heating and air conditioning just in case! The location is ideal for grapes: in fact, they've been grown on these chalky hills for well over two thousand years. The Decugnano dei Barbi estate produces a range of world class wines for you to try. The honeyed velvet Pourriture Noble is ideal with a sliver of our chef’s favorite almond cake, enjoyed as the sun sets on yet another perfect day at Villa Barbi.
