Castello di Reschio is a very private estate that covers 2,700 acres of Umbrian countryside on the border with Tuscany. This is the green heart of Italy, a land of rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves and woods of oak and chestnut, where little has changed since St Francis of Assisi preached here in the Middle Ages. Scattered around this unspoilt landscape are 50 farmhouses that seem as ancient as the hills. To date more than twenty have been beautifully restored for clients to create private houses, tailored to individual tastes in a style and quality of finish that meets the highest international standards. Each home is unique and has been created and furnished by the owners of Castello di Reschio, Count Antonio Bolza and two generations of his family who live in the 11th century Castello and run this magnificent estate. The 5* concierge service available to all guests through the Estate Management Company includes personal drivers, daily maid service, food delivery and cooking services. Castello di Reschio is centrally placed to enjoy the highlights of Umbria and Tuscany and is only 20 minutes from Cortona or half an hour from the galleries, churches, opera, film and jazz festivals or theaters in Umbria's capital city, Perugia. Florence and Rome are within two hours drive, and Siena, Arezzo, Assisi, Todi and Orvieto are all close by. Colombaia is luxurious spacious accommodation and was completed in 2006. It forms a kind of penthouse built above medieval foundations, level with the vineyards and olive groves on top of a sloping hill but with direct and exclusive access. The separate apartment built into the slope below with its own courtyard has different access and orientation and can be rented only by guests of Colombaia on special request when not in occasional use by the Estate owners. As characteristic of the concept of Reschio, Colombaia meets the highest international standards in elegant furnishings, privacy, exclusivity and size. The layout offers most generous, flowing accommodation for two with a spacious master suite, direct access to a large sunbathing terrace, with total privacy and breathtaking views. The comfortable study cum library includes a sofa bed for visitors and there is a guest bathroom. French windows enhance the flow of light. Excellent for long-term winter rental with two fireplaces and under-floor heating.
