You could describe Amasole as the farmhouse of luxurious essentials or essential luxuries. Its aesthetic rigour is immediately apparent when entering the garden: a large fenced green of about 3000 sqm, with copses of oak and cypress trees providing welcome shade, the odd hammock or seating where one can read or write in blissful solitude. Clumps of blue lavender and white geraniums complete the serene picture. The garden could be compared to the upper circle in a theatre with views of the stage that is Lake Trasimeno; Trasimeno with its incredible range of colours, ever changing from dawn to dusk. The pool is heated by solar panels and has the same fabulous views as the garden, whilst the modern pool house provides all comforts for life by the pool: a fridge, basin, shelves and a bathroom with shower. Amasole is two hundred years old. It was once the home for 20 farmhands who all lived on the first floor and kept their animals in the stables below, surrounded by open farmland. Renovation of the villa was completed in spring 2004 and the result is a beautiful and elegant farmhouse on a mountain with amazing views of Lake Trasimeno. Amasole can accommodate eight people in its context of rustic Italian authenticity, punctuated by Scandinavian and Italian design classics. Reminiscent of an Italian manor house, Amasole has tall stone facades and spectacular views of Lake Trasimeno and the surrounding wooden hills. When renovating, local craftsmen complied with strict regulations to preserve its original characteristics, including the massive staircase to the first floor. Traditional elements like the original brickwork, exposed beams, arches, hand-made terracotta floor tiles and bedrooms with four-poster beds combine well with modern touches: heated bathroom floors, outdoor lightning, a stainless-steel kitchen (Boffi) and Phillippe Starck bathrooms. The living room features a Bang-Olufsen HI-FI system and the TV room - its walls fully clad in stone - offers a wide selection of DVDs. Amasole's luxurious feel is present not just in the designer furnishings, it is also in the dimensions granted to each room. The bedrooms are very spacious: they easily accommodate king-size double beds (240cm wide) and single beds with the width of 120cm. On request, the latter can be combined to form large double beds. The size of the bathrooms is also striking. A beautiful wisteria covers and shades the large pergola with its barbecue, great dinner table and has wonderful views of the lake. On the borders of Umbria and Tuscany, Amasole is ideally located for half-day or full-day excursions to Siena, Cortona, Perugia or Montepulciano.
